Our take

My take on Eightcap

Eightcap is, first and foremost, a pricing grid. The Australian broker, launched in Melbourne in 2009, has spent fifteen years doing one thing better than most: charging as little as possible for a round trip on the markets. On its Raw account, the EUR/USD spread starts at 0.0 pip and the commission drops to $3.5 per lot. At that level you are talking about the three or four cheapest brokers a retail trader can reach.

Everything else follows the same logic. More than 800 instruments, ASIC in Australia, CySEC in Cyprus and the FCA in the UK, and no in-house platform: it all runs on MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and TradingView, which traders already know by heart. I linked my demo account to TradingView in two minutes, no third-party bridge. During the US jobs report, the moment when many brokers blow their spreads wide open, execution did not flinch.

This is a broker for someone who already knows their way around a chart. No inactivity fees, an unlimited demo account loaded with $50,000 to drill a strategy, and a 4.0/5 Trustpilot rating across more than 3,100 reviews. Nothing flashy, plenty of substance where it counts.

“On the raw cost of a round trip, few regulated brokers can match Eightcap. ”

Safety & regulation

Is your money safe?

Eightcap is no offshore shell. The broker runs on several regulated entities, each tied to a serious supervisor. European clients sit under Eightcap EU in Cyprus, licensed by CySEC. Alongside it stand Eightcap Pty Ltd in Australia (ASIC no. 391441) for the APAC region, Eightcap (UK) Ltd in the United Kingdom (FCA) for British residents, and Eightcap Global Limited in the Bahamas (SCB) for international clients. Client money sits in separate bank accounts at tier-1 institutions, exactly as each regulator demands. Under the CySEC entity the ESMA framework does the heavy lifting, the same rulebook active traders already know. Leverage is capped at 1:30 for retail clients, you get negative balance protection, and your assets stay segregated from the firm's own books. Two-factor authentication switches on across any account in a few seconds.

The Raw account is where the whole story sits. The EUR/USD spread starts at 0.0 pip and the commission stops at $3.5 per standard lot, $7 for the round turn. At that price Eightcap plays in the same league as IC Markets and Pepperstone, the sharpest pricing you will find. The other majors keep pace, 0.1 pip on USD/JPY and GBP/USD. On commodities, count on 0.1 pip for gold (XAU/USD) and 0.03 pip on WTI crude; on BTC/USD, 12 pips, which is fair for crypto traded as a derivative.

The Standard account swaps the commission for slightly wider spreads, from 1 pip on EUR/USD, and fits the trader who fires off a handful of orders a month. On stocks in the Raw account, count on $0.02 per share with a $4 minimum per order. The detail people forget to check, and the one I rate most, is that there are no inactivity fees at all, and withdrawals are free and cleared within 24 hours by bank transfer, card, e-wallet or crypto. Any FX conversion, when you fund a dollar account in another currency, runs between 0.5% and 1% depending on the method, right on the sector average.

Real-world scenarios

Real-world scenarios

Three trader profiles and their monthly cost.

  1. Beginner trader, 2 trades/month on EUR/USD

30-day demo account then a $100 deposit on the Standard account. 2 round-turn trades of 0.1 lot on EUR/USD, average spread 1.0 pip.

Monthly cost ≈ $2, no inactivity fees, no withdrawal fees. The Standard account is the right choice below 5 lots/month.

  2. Intermediate trader, 10 lots/month on majors

Raw ECN account with a $500 initial deposit. 10 standard lots on EUR/USD and GBP/USD, Raw spread 0.0 to 0.1 pip + $3.5/lot commission.

Monthly cost ≈ $35 in commissions on Raw vs ≈ $100 in spread on Standard. The Raw account becomes worthwhile from 3-5 lots/month on the majors.

  3. Active trader, 50 lots/month multi-asset

Raw account + MQL5 automation. 50 lots/month split across Forex + indices + gold, free VPS execution from 5 lots/month.

Total cost ≈ $175/month in commissions. Equivalent to 30 to 40% less than a mainstream proprietary broker on the same volume.

Instruments & markets covered

Eight hundred and some instruments, with one clear stance behind them, trading rather than holding. You get 40+ Forex pairs, more than 600 US and European stocks as derivatives (Tesla, Apple, LVMH, Microsoft), 15+ major indices (S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, CAC 40, DAX 40), a clutch of ETFs (SPY, QQQ, VXX), about as many commodities (gold, silver, oil, natural gas) and 100+ crypto pairs, from Bitcoin to Solana. Because everything runs through derivatives there are no voting rights and no physical dividends, but adjustments land on long positions held past the ex-dividend date.

This is the Eightcap DNA, and it is worth taking for exactly what it is, an active trading tool built to catch market moves. Crypto exposure stays speculative, 1:2 leverage at most, with no staking or wallet. Put another way, you come here to trade, and trading is precisely what Eightcap does best.

The verdict

The verdict

Eightcap makes few promises, and it keeps them. For an active trader doing 10 trades a month on the Raw account, the annual bill comes in 30 to 40% below a mainstream broker with its own platform. That is the whole gap between a tool built for cost and a tool built for marketing.

What stays with me after using it: you find your bearings instantly on MT5 or TradingView, execution holds up when the market gets busy, and nothing quietly eats into your performance. To get started without pressure, the unlimited demo account loaded with $50,000 lets you test a strategy at full scale before the first real dollar.
