Libertex: cFDs with commission-based pricing, EU clients under a CySEC entity? My 2026 review
The commission-based CFD account in our Ireland comparison: Irish clients contract with Indication Investments Ltd in Cyprus under CySEC licence 164/12, with zero spread on a wide selection of instruments and one commission shown before you confirm.
The Irish trader who wants one legible commission per trade on an EU-regulated account
Our take
My take on Libertex
For a reader in Dublin or Cork the first question about Libertex is not the brand but the company on the contract, and there the answer is clear. Inside the European Union the group runs through Indication Investments Ltd, a Cypriot investment firm supervised by CySEC in Limassol under licence 164/12, inside a business that has been trading since 1997 and now counts more than 3 million clients. That settles most of what matters for an account opened from Ireland: the ESMA rulebook applies exactly as it does anywhere else in the single market, so retail leverage on currencies stops at 1:30, crypto derivatives at 1:2, negative balance protection is in place, and client funds sit apart from the firm's own capital.
What the passport does not give you is an Irish authorisation. The Central Bank of Ireland does not supervise the entity you contract with, and the compensation scheme behind the account is the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund rather than an Irish one. In our Ireland comparison the broker holding a home authorisation is AvaTrade, through AvaTrade EU, so if that is a condition rather than a preference, start there instead.
Underneath the licence sits the reason to look at Libertex at all: the pricing is unusually legible. Rather than padding the spread, the broker quotes zero spread on a wide selection of instruments and bills one commission per trade, from 0.0% depending on the instrument, shown in the order ticket before you confirm. The range runs to 300+ instruments on an award-winning proprietary platform sitting alongside MetaTrader 4 and 5, with a $100 minimum deposit and a free demo carrying $50,000 in virtual funds. Libertex sits eighth of the eight brokers in our Ireland comparison with an editorial rating of 4.4, flagged for transparent commission-based pricing on a wide CFD range.
“For an Irish client the trade-off is clean: a CySEC entity with the full ESMA rulebook, zero spread with one commission shown before you confirm, and a dollar account to fund from a euro bank. ”

Why trust HelloBrokers?
This review is not a copy-paste of Libertex's marketing page. We tested the platforms, modelled the cost of a typical trade down to the pip, and benchmarked Libertex against the 8 brokers in our comparison. A broker is judged on verifiable figures, not marketing promises.

Safety & regulation
Is your money safe?
This is no offshore shell, and for an Irish resident the relevant part of the structure is the European one. EU clients are onboarded with Indication Investments Ltd, the Cypriot investment firm supervised by CySEC under licence 164/12 in Limassol, passported into Ireland under single market rules. That passport is what makes the account available here, and it is also the limit of the arrangement: your counterparty's supervisor is CySEC, not the Central Bank of Ireland, and the compensation scheme attached to the entity is the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund. Where a complaint goes and which scheme would answer for it are Cypriot questions, not Irish ones. What the CySEC licence does bring is the full ESMA rulebook, the same one that would govern an Irish account opened with any other EU entity. Retail leverage on currency pairs is capped at 1:30 and crypto derivatives at 1:2. Negative balance protection means a position cannot push the account below zero, which matters more than it sounds when a gap opens against you overnight, and client funds are held apart from the company's own capital rather than mixed into the firm's balance sheet. On mobile, biometric and passcode login lock down access in seconds. One practical warning from the reviews before you get that far: identity verification ahead of a first withdrawal can take longer than expected, so complete it early rather than on the day you want your money back.

Fees & spreads
What does it really cost?
Its cost against the average of the brokers we track (shorter bar = cheaper).
Libertex turned the usual pricing logic on its head, and that is the reason to consider it. Rather than widening the spread, the broker quotes zero spread on a wide selection of instruments and bills one commission per trade, displayed in the ticket before you confirm. Read the 0.0% as a floor rather than the rate on everything, since it depends on the instrument: that is why our own indicative measure, swaps aside, puts the all-in cost of a round-turn lot on the majors near $9, against roughly $13 for the average broker we track and $8 for Eightcap, one of the lowest-cost brokers in our Ireland comparison. Deposits are free and the minimum is $100.
Two lines in the budget are specific to an Irish account. The first is the currency: the pricing, the $100 minimum and the $50,000 demo are all quoted in dollars while you earn, spend and file in euro, so money leaving a euro bank account and coming back to it is converted each way, charged on the size of the transfer rather than on the number of trades, so fewer and larger movements dilute it. Libertex charges nothing on deposits, so the cost to check is what your own Irish bank or payment provider takes, and it belongs next to the commission rather than being ignored because the spread reads zero. The second is the inactivity fee after 180 days without trading activity: fund an account, trade for a month, then step away for two quarters and it starts costing you money while nothing happens in it.
Irish tax barely touches the trading side, because almost everything you open here is a derivative rather than an asset you hold. It matters for one part of the account. A share bought directly through Libertex Invest sits inside capital gains tax at 33% above the annual personal exemption of EUR 1,270, where an Irish or EU UCITS fund or ETF would instead fall under exit tax at 41% with a deemed disposal every eight years, and stamp duty on the purchase of Irish shares forms part of your cost base. Our Irish capital gains calculator models direct shares, funds and crypto held as investments rather than derivative positions, so it fits the Invest side of the account and not the trading side. How a leveraged trading account should be reported is a question for Revenue or a qualified adviser, and nothing here is tax advice.

Drag the slider: we compute the estimated annual cost (spread + commission, standard EUR/USD lots).
That is $480 saved per year against the market average.
Indicative estimate: all-in cost per round-turn lot on the majors ≈ $9 (Libertex, zero spread plus one transparent commission shown before you confirm), $8 (Eightcap), $13 (average of the brokers we track). Excludes swap/overnight. Verified 10 June 2026.
Instruments & markets covered
Instruments & markets covered
The range runs to 300+ instruments: more than 50 currency pairs, US and European share derivatives, around 20 major indices, dozens of commodities and crypto derivatives on the main coins, all from one account on the proprietary Libertex platform or on MetaTrader 4 and 5. One absence is worth naming for an Irish reader: our source lists no Irish name, so ISEQ exposure is not documented here, and the indices Libertex puts forward are American and German ones.
The ESMA caps that come with the Cypriot entity shape what those instruments can do for an Irish retail client. Currency pairs stop at 1:30 and crypto derivatives at 1:2, which makes the crypto side a small speculative allocation rather than a leveraged strategy, with no native wallet and no coin held on your behalf. If owning crypto is the point rather than trading its price, Bitpanda is the pick in our Ireland comparison, with staking on a range of coins and a MiCAR licence in the EU.
The one genuine crossover is Libertex Invest, which lets you buy a selection of real stocks at zero brokerage commission, held side by side with derivatives in the same app. For an Irish investor it is also the only part of the account that puts you inside the direct-share tax regime rather than the fund and ETF one. Two caveats: it is a selection rather than a full market, so check in the app which names are available to you, and stamp duty on Irish share purchases is part of your cost base if Irish names are among them.

Who this broker is for
Who this broker is for
-
Irish resident who wants EU protections with readable costs
You contract with Indication Investments Ltd in Cyprus under CySEC 164/12, so the ESMA rulebook applies in full: 1:30 retail leverage on currencies, 1:2 on crypto derivatives, negative balance protection and segregated client funds. But there is no Central Bank of Ireland authorisation, so if a home-regulator licence is a condition rather than a preference, compare against AvaTrade.
-
Active trader placing orders across a heavy session
Zero spread on a wide selection of instruments, with one commission per trade shown before you confirm and an indicative all-in cost near $9 per round-turn lot on the majors. Budget the euro to dollar conversion on funding separately, since it is charged on the money you move rather than on the trades you place.
-
Irish investor who wants one directly held share alongside derivatives
Libertex Invest lets you buy a selection of real stocks at zero brokerage commission in the same app as the derivatives, and a share held directly falls under the Irish capital gains regime rather than the exit tax on Irish and EU UCITS funds and ETFs. It is a selection rather than a full market, so for a broad euro portfolio look at XTB and its 0% commission on real stocks and ETFs.

The verdict
The verdict
For an Irish trader the case for Libertex is narrow but real. The pricing is unusually legible, at an indicative all-in cost of roughly $9 per round-turn lot on the majors against about $13 for the average broker we track; the platform, awarded in 2025 and paired with MetaTrader 4 and 5, is a genuine strength; and the account you open is an EU one under CySEC 164/12, with its ESMA caps, negative balance protection and segregated client funds. Libertex Invest adds a selection of real stocks at zero brokerage commission, the part of the account an Irish long-term investor could actually use.
The reservations are structural rather than technical. There is no Central Bank of Ireland authorisation, so your supervisor and your compensation scheme are both Cypriot, where AvaTrade holds an Irish authorisation and is also the gentler first account. The account is dollar-denominated while your life is in euro, which adds a conversion each way that the zero spread does not show. Support runs weekdays only, 9:00 to 18:00 Cyprus time. And the inactivity fee after 180 days penalises exactly the occasional user this pricing model would otherwise suit.
That is why Libertex sits eighth of eight in our Ireland comparison with an editorial rating of 4.4, strong on fees and platform, weaker on range and client experience. If cost per round trip is your single priority, Eightcap is worth the side-by-side check as one of the lowest-cost brokers we track here; if you want to own real shares and ETFs in size rather than a selection, XTB charges 0% commission on both. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of capital loss whatever the licence, so run the demo before committing a euro.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ Libertex
Is Libertex reliable?
Yes, within limits worth knowing. EU clients, Ireland included, are onboarded with Indication Investments Ltd, a Cypriot investment firm supervised by CySEC under licence 164/12 in Limassol, inside a group on the markets since 1997. The ESMA rulebook therefore covers an Irish account: 1:30 leverage on currencies, 1:2 on crypto derivatives, negative balance protection and segregated client funds. What is missing is an Irish authorisation, which in our Ireland comparison belongs to AvaTrade, so both your supervisor and your compensation scheme are Cypriot. Trustpilot shows 3.9/5 across more than 9,500 reviews.
Why choose Libertex?
For pricing you can read before you click: zero spread on a wide selection of instruments, one transparent commission per trade displayed in the ticket before you confirm, and an award-winning proprietary platform alongside MetaTrader 4 and 5. Libertex Invest also lets you buy a selection of real stocks at zero brokerage commission, the one part of the account where you hold the asset itself rather than a contract on its price.
What are the fees at Libertex?
Deposits are free and the minimum is $100. Many instruments trade at zero spread, with the commission varying by instrument from 0.0% at the low end and shown before you confirm, and a selection of assets carries zero brokerage commission through Libertex Invest. Our indicative all-in cost for a round-turn lot on the majors is near $9, against about $13 for the average broker we track. Two Irish-specific costs to add: the dollar account converts each way against your euro bank, and an inactivity fee lands after 180 days without trading activity.
Who is Libertex for?
Active traders above all, since legible per-trade costs are what this account is built for, and beginners can lean on the free demo with $50,000 in virtual funds. An Irish investor wanting a broad euro portfolio of real shares and ETFs is less well served: there is no tax wrapper, and Libertex Invest covers a selection of names rather than a full market. In our Ireland comparison, XTB charges 0% commission on real stocks and ETFs and Bitpanda is the pick for owning crypto with staking.
Is it easy to withdraw from Libertex?
Yes. Withdrawal requests take a few clicks by card, bank transfer or e-wallet and are handled quickly. Two notes for an Irish client: complete identity verification early, since delays before a first withdrawal are the recurring complaint in the reviews, and expect the euro to dollar conversion on the way out as well as in, so consolidating withdrawals keeps that cost down.
