Pepperstone: forex specialist, DFSA-regulated in the DIFC (Dubai)? My 2026 review
One of the few international brokers with an onshore UAE licence: DFSA-regulated in Dubai's DIFC, with spreads from 0.0 pips and full order automation on MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView.
The UAE trader who wants a DFSA-regulated broker with reduced currency-trading fees and order automation
Our take
My take on Pepperstone
For a trader in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, the first thing worth checking about any broker is where it is regulated, and that is where Pepperstone stands out: it is one of the few international brokers on our UAE comparison with a documented onshore licence, regulated in the DIFC by the DFSA (Dubai), on top of the FCA in the United Kingdom, ASIC in Australia and CySEC in Cyprus. Founded in Melbourne in 2010, it has grown into one of the names you hear most when traders talk about where they execute, yet most of its rivals serve UAE residents from an entity abroad; here there is a supervised presence inside one of the country's own financial free zones.
The offer underneath that licence is built for active trading. You get 1,200+ instruments across MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and TradingView, spreads from 0.0 pip on the Razor account, execution around 30 ms, and no minimum deposit to open, with a free $50,000 demo that does not expire on cTrader and TradingView. We list Pepperstone as a recommended partner and a forex specialist in our UAE ranking, and the Trustpilot rating of 4.5/5 across more than 4,100 reviews lines up with what our own testing found. For a UAE resident who checks who actually supervises a broker before wiring funds, the DFSA status changes the conversation from the start.
“Few brokers give UAE traders both sides of the deal: a DFSA-regulated entity in Dubai's own financial free zone and Razor spreads from 0.0 pip with a $3.50 per-lot commission per side. ”

Why trust HelloBrokers?
This review is not a copy-paste of Pepperstone's marketing page. We tested the platforms, modelled the cost of a typical trade down to the pip, and benchmarked Pepperstone against the 7 brokers in our comparison. A broker is judged on verifiable figures, not marketing promises.

Safety & regulation
Is your money safe?
The UAE splits financial supervision three ways: the SCA regulates onshore activity at federal level, the DFSA oversees the DIFC free zone in Dubai, and the FSRA oversees the ADGM in Abu Dhabi. Most international brokers serve UAE residents under tier-1 licences held abroad; Pepperstone is one of the exceptions, with an entity regulated in the DIFC by the DFSA, a local UAE authorisation that carries real weight when something needs resolving close to home. That entity sits inside a group running seven regulated companies: Pepperstone Limited in London under the FCA (no. 684312), Pepperstone Group Limited in Melbourne under ASIC (AFSL 414530), Pepperstone EU Limited in Limassol under CySEC (no. 388/20) for EU clients, Pepperstone GmbH in Düsseldorf under BaFin (no. 151148), plus the DFSA in Dubai, the SCB in the Bahamas and the CMA in Kenya. Client money sits in segregated accounts at tier-1 banks, exactly as each regulator demands, and two-factor authentication switches on from the secure client area in seconds. One practical note for UAE applicants: protections such as leverage caps and negative balance protection are set by the entity your account is opened with (the 1:30 retail cap, for instance, comes from the ESMA rulebook that applies to the EU entities), so check your onboarding paperwork to see which Pepperstone company you are contracting with before you fund.

Fees & spreads
What does it really cost?
Its cost against the average of the brokers we track (shorter bar = cheaper).
Start with what a UAE trader actually pays. Accounts for UAE residents are typically funded in US dollars, so the Razor account's dollar pricing is what you will see debited: EUR/USD spreads open at 0.0 pip and run around 0.1 pip on average, with a $3.50 commission per standard lot per side on MetaTrader and TradingView, $7 the round turn, and $3.00 per side on cTrader, executed in around 30 ms with a fill rate above 99.9% and no dealing desk in between. The Standard account drops the commission for spreads from 1 pip, a better fit if you place a handful of orders a month. Opening carries no thresholds either way: there is no minimum deposit ($200 is a comfortable starting point), deposits are free, nothing is charged for sitting idle, and withdrawals go through free within one business day by card, bank transfer or PayPal.
Now the dirham side of the equation. You earn and spend in AED while the account runs in dollars, and the AED's peg at roughly 3.6725 to the dollar keeps that conversion stable and predictable; the cost worth checking is whatever your AED bank account charges to send the transfer, since Pepperstone itself charges nothing on deposits. Pepperstone offers ten account base currencies: if you fund in US dollars, as most UAE residents do, keeping USD as the base currency aligns the account with your funding route and avoids paying conversion twice. The other half of the cost picture is tax, and here the UAE is unusually simple: there is no personal income tax and no capital gains tax on resident individuals, so trading gains are generally tax-free. The 9% federal corporate tax applies to business profits above AED 375,000, not to an individual's personal trading account. This is not tax advice, and non-residents may still owe tax in their home country.
One caveat the raw numbers hide: the Razor model adds a per-trade commission on top of the spread, so compare the all-in cost on the pairs you actually trade before choosing it over the Standard account. As a rule of thumb from our testing, the Razor account becomes worthwhile from around 3-5 lots a month on the majors.

That is $720 saved per year against the market average.
Indicative estimate: cost per round-turn lot ≈ $7 (Pepperstone Razor), $8 (Eightcap), $13 (average of the brokers we track). Spread + commission, excluding swap/overnight. Verified 10 June 2026.
Instruments & markets covered
Instruments & markets covered
There are 1,200+ instruments to work with, all derivatives. For a Gulf reader the natural place to start is gold: XAU/USD trades from 0.1 pip on the Razor account, and it sits alongside around thirty commodities from silver and oil to natural gas, coffee and cotton. Count also 100+ currency pairs across majors, minors and exotics, 25+ indices among them the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, FTSE 100 and DAX 40, hundreds of US, European and Australian share derivatives like Tesla, Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft, 100+ ETFs and roughly twenty crypto pairs including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. Hold a long position through the ex-dividend date and the dividend lands as an adjustment on the position; nothing here confers ownership of the underlying asset.
Two features matter more in the Emirates than in most markets. The first is the swap-free (Islamic) account, available on request after validation for eligible accounts: it removes overnight interest while keeping the pricing of the base account, rather than burying the difference in wider spreads. The second is automation, which is what this broker is built for: Expert Advisors on MT4 and MT5, cTrader Automate in C#, Capitalise.ai to write trading rules in plain English without touching code, a free VPS for active traders, and copy trading through cTrader Copy, DupliTrade or Myfxbook. All of it can be rehearsed risk-free on the $50,000 demo before a single dirham leaves your bank account, and the in-house iOS and Android app handles orders, price alerts, funding and withdrawals on the move.

Pepperstone is one of the few brokers in our UAE comparison with a documented onshore licence, regulated in the DIFC by the DFSA (Dubai), alongside FCA, ASIC and CySEC supervision abroad. For anyone who prefers a locally supervised entity with segregated client funds over an offshore registration, that status is the differentiator.

The verdict
The verdict
For a UAE trader the verdict is more clear-cut than in most markets. On pure merits, Pepperstone keeps the cost of trading currencies low with the Razor grid from 0.0 pip, fills orders in around 30 ms, lets you pick between MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, and pushes order automation further than almost anyone. Then comes the local layer that most rivals cannot match: a DFSA-regulated entity in the DIFC (Dubai), which makes Pepperstone our top technical pick for an execution-first forex account under local supervision, with a swap-free option on request and the UAE's zero personal capital gains tax letting the cost discipline compound in full. The limits are the same everywhere: derivatives only, so the long-term investor who wants to own shares outright should look elsewhere, and leveraged trading carries a high risk of loss whatever the licence. The 4.5/5 Trustpilot rating across more than 4,100 reviews matches our own experience, and Pepperstone sits among the recommended partners in our UAE comparator; if cost is your single priority, it is worth a side-by-side check against Eightcap, one of the lowest-cost brokers in our UAE comparison, before deciding, and if you would rather learn under Abu Dhabi's regulator than Dubai's, AvaTrade holds the equivalent FSRA licence in the ADGM. For a Dubai or Abu Dhabi trader who wants execution quality first and a local supervisor behind it, this is the account we would open.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ Pepperstone
Is Pepperstone reliable?
Yes. Pepperstone is one of the few international brokers serving UAE residents with a documented onshore licence: it is regulated in the DIFC by the DFSA (Dubai), on top of the FCA (United Kingdom, no. 684312), ASIC (Australia, AFSL 414530) and CySEC (no. 388/20), plus BaFin, the SCB and the CMA. Client money is segregated at tier-1 banks, and Trustpilot shows 4.5/5 across more than 4,100 reviews.
Why choose Pepperstone?
For the combination most rivals cannot offer in the Emirates: a DFSA-regulated entity in Dubai's DIFC, reduced currency-trading fees with Razor spreads from 0.0 pip, execution around 30 ms, full order automation on MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, and a swap-free (Islamic) account available on request for eligible clients.
What are the fees at Pepperstone?
Razor account: spreads from 0 pip with $3.50 per lot per side ($7 round turn, $3.00 per side on cTrader). Standard: spreads from 1 pip, commission-free. No minimum deposit, no deposit, inactivity or withdrawal fees. As a UAE resident individual you also pay no personal capital gains tax on trading gains, though non-residents may owe tax in their home country.
Who is Pepperstone for?
Every profile with a trading focus: beginners start with no minimum deposit and a free $50,000 demo; active traders get interbank-grade execution and automation; and UAE residents who want a locally supervised broker get the DFSA licence in the DIFC. Only the buy-and-hold investor seeking direct share ownership should look elsewhere, as everything here is a derivative.
Is it easy to withdraw from Pepperstone?
Yes, withdrawals are free and processed within one business day via card, bank transfer or PayPal. Accounts for UAE residents are typically funded in US dollars, and the dirham's peg at roughly 3.6725 to the dollar keeps the AED-USD conversion stable; check what your own bank charges on the transfer, as Pepperstone adds nothing.
