Avatrade: versatile and complete, FSRA-regulated in Abu Dhabi (ADGM)? My 2026 review
One of the few brokers on our UAE list with a local licence: FSRA-regulated in the ADGM (Abu Dhabi), with fixed spreads, copy trading and 1,250+ instruments.
The UAE beginner who wants a locally regulated broker (FSRA, ADGM) with a free simulator and predictable fixed-spread costs
Our take
My take on Avatrade
For a trader based in the UAE, AvaTrade's headline feature is not its catalogue, it is the licence. Through Ava Trade Middle East Ltd, registered in the Abu Dhabi Global Market under FSRA licence no. 190018, AvaTrade is one of the few brokers in our UAE comparison with an actual local authorisation, rather than serving residents purely from an overseas entity. That local footprint sits inside a group founded in Dublin in 2006, now serving more than 400,000 clients under 9 regulators, including the Central Bank of Ireland and ASIC.
The offer itself is a broad all-rounder: 1,250+ instruments across forex, stocks, indices, ETFs, commodities, FX options and crypto as derivatives, fixed spreads set before you click, copy trading through AvaSocial and DupliTrade, and the AvaProtect loss-protection feature. In our UAE ranking, AvaTrade sits fourth at 4.8/5, and on Trustpilot the rating stands at 4.8/5 across more than 12,500 reviews. Accounts are typically funded in US dollars, which is painless when your spending currency is the dirham, pegged to the dollar.
“A rare local licence on our UAE list: FSRA-regulated in Abu Dhabi (ADGM), pairing fixed spreads with 1,250+ instruments. ”

Safety & regulation
Is your money safe?
The UAE splits supervision three ways: the SCA at federal level, the DFSA inside the DIFC in Dubai, and the FSRA inside the ADGM in Abu Dhabi. AvaTrade belongs to the short list of brokers with a home in that system: Ava Trade Middle East Ltd is regulated by the FSRA in the ADGM under licence no. 190018. For a UAE resident, that means a locally supervised entity and a local avenue of recourse, something an offshore-only setup cannot offer. Around the Abu Dhabi entity sits a genuinely global network: AVA Trade EU Ltd in Dublin answers to the Central Bank of Ireland (ref. C53877), Ava Capital Markets Australia Pty Ltd holds ASIC AFSL no. 406684, Ava Trade Japan K.K. is licensed by the Japanese FSA (no. 1662) and Ava Capital Markets Pty Ltd by the FSCA in South Africa (no. 45984). Client money sits in segregated bank accounts, and logging in is a fingerprint away on the AvaTradeGO app. One point to check at onboarding: protections such as the ICCL compensation scheme (up to 20,000 EUR) and the ESMA leverage cap of 1:30 attach to the EU entity, and there is no single UAE-wide retail cap, so the leverage and protection terms that apply to you depend on the entity your account is opened with.

Fees & spreads
What does it really cost?
Its cost against the average of the brokers we track (shorter bar = cheaper).
The fee grid itself carries no UAE specifics, so here is the short version: fixed spreads with zero commission, 0.9 pip on EUR/USD for the Standard account (0.6 pip for eligible Professional accounts), stock derivatives from 0.13% of the order amount folded into the spread, and free deposits and withdrawals (bank transfer, cards, e-wallets) that clear within 1-2 business days. The fixed part is the point: the cost of an order is set before you click, whatever volatility does.
Two UAE-specific points matter more than the fee grid itself. First, funding: accounts are usually held in US dollars while you earn and spend in dirhams, and because the AED is pegged at around 3.6725 to the dollar, the conversion leg carries none of the exchange-rate uncertainty that traders in floating-currency countries live with. Second, tax: the UAE levies no personal income tax and no capital gains tax on resident individuals, so trading gains are generally tax-free for residents. Only if you trade through a UAE company does the 9% corporate tax on profits above AED 375,000 enter the picture. This is not tax advice, and non-residents may still owe tax at home. Before committing a single dollar, the free demo hands you $100,000 in virtual funds; the one recurring cost to watch is the inactivity fee after three months without logging in.

The catalogue is broad: 1,250+ instruments, with 50+ forex pairs, more than 600 US and European stocks as derivatives, 30+ major indices, around 60 ETFs, 30 commodities, government bonds and some 20 cryptocurrencies, plus FX options on 40+ currency pairs through AvaOptions. For a UAE resident, one framing matters: everything here is a derivative traded on margin. You never own the underlying share or coin, and crypto exposure runs through the broker as derivatives, not through a VARA-licensed exchange in Dubai, so there is no wallet and no direct custody.
Two features carry particular weight for this market. The Islamic (swap-free) account, available on request after validation, removes overnight charges entirely, which paired with fixed spreads keeps every cost explicit for a trader who needs a Sharia-compliant setup. And AvaProtect, which reimburses losses on a covered position during the chosen period in exchange for an upfront premium, can take some of the sting out of a first encounter with leveraged products.

The verdict
The verdict
For an investor in the UAE, AvaTrade earns its fourth place in our ranking (4.8/5) on a combination few rivals match: a genuine local licence, with Ava Trade Middle East Ltd regulated by the FSRA in the ADGM (Abu Dhabi, no. 190018), wrapped around one of the most versatile offers on our list. Fixed spreads keep every cost predictable, the catalogue stretches across 1,250+ instruments including FX options, copy trading comes built in through AvaSocial and DupliTrade, and the swap-free Islamic account answers a real need in this market. Beginners get a well-furnished onboarding, with a free $100,000 simulator, AvaAcademy and AvaProtect, all under a regulator based in Abu Dhabi rather than a distant offshore centre, while personal trading gains remain tax-free for UAE resident individuals. Traders focused on raw execution costs may prefer Eightcap, one of the lowest-cost brokers in our UAE comparison, and Pepperstone offers the other local licence on our list (DFSA, in the DIFC), but as a first regulated account in the UAE, AvaTrade covers a lot of ground. You can weigh all the regulated options side by side in our UAE comparator.
