IG: cFD and indices expert with a DIFC-based office in Dubai? My 2026 review
A listed heavyweight founded in 1974 with 17,000+ tradable markets and a DIFC-based office in Dubai: the widest market range in our UAE comparison, for traders who want the full professional toolkit.

Our take
My take on IG
For a trader in Dubai or Abu Dhabi weighing up IG, two facts frame everything else. The first is scale: founded in 1974 and listed on the London Stock Exchange, IG gives access to more than 17,000 tradable markets, the widest range in our UAE comparison, spanning indices, forex, commodities, shares, vanilla and barrier options and futures. The second is presence: IG operates a DIFC-based office in Dubai, a physical footprint inside the emirate's own financial free zone that most international rivals of its size do not have, even though UAE residents are served under the group's international licences (FCA in the UK, ASIC in Australia, BaFin in Germany) rather than a local retail authorisation.
That combination is why IG sits in our UAE ranking as the pick for breadth and professional tools, with a 4.6/5 rating. Where Eightcap and Pepperstone lead on raw execution cost, IG leads on the depth of the catalogue and on the weight of a listed company behind the platform: audited accounts, public disclosure and half a century of history. Add a cash securities account with real share and ETF ownership, no ETF fees and zero currency conversion, and you get something rare among the trading-first names available in the Emirates, a full derivatives desk and a genuine investing account behind one login, with no minimum deposit to open.
“No other broker in our UAE comparison pairs 17,000+ markets and a DIFC-based office in Dubai with real share and ETF ownership at zero currency conversion. ”

Safety & regulation
Is your money safe?
Three supervisors share the UAE map: onshore activity answers to the SCA at federal level, while each financial free zone runs its own regulator, the DFSA for Dubai's DIFC and the FSRA for the ADGM in Abu Dhabi. IG's position on that map is specific and worth stating precisely: the group operates a DIFC-based office in Dubai, a documented local footprint, while UAE residents are served under its international tier-1 licences, the FCA in the United Kingdom, ASIC in Australia and BaFin in Germany. Our sources document no separate SCA, DFSA or FSRA retail licence, so the local office should be read as presence and proximity rather than as onshore supervision; traders who specifically want a locally licensed entity can compare Pepperstone, which is DFSA-regulated in the DIFC, or AvaTrade, which holds an FSRA licence in the ADGM. What IG offers instead is a different kind of assurance: it has traded since 1974 and is listed on the London Stock Exchange, which brings audited accounts and a level of public scrutiny most private brokers never face. Client funds sit in segregated accounts, negative balance protection applies on leveraged products for retail clients, and two-factor authentication is available on the client area. One practical note for UAE applicants: retail protections such as leverage caps (up to 1:30 in many jurisdictions) depend on the IG entity that opens your account, a detail the account paperwork confirms, so read it before you fund.

Fees & spreads
What does it really cost?
Its cost against the average of the brokers we track (shorter bar = cheaper).
Begin with the money flow. Accounts for UAE residents are usually funded in US dollars, and because the dirham is pegged at roughly 3.6725 to the dollar, that conversion is a fixed quantity rather than a moving cost; the line worth examining is your own AED bank's transfer fee, since IG itself charges nothing on deposits and withdrawals are free. On the trading side the cost lives in the spread, and IG's grid is competitive on the markets a Gulf trader is most likely to touch: EUR/USD from 0.6 pip, the FTSE 100, Wall Street (US 30) and Germany 40 from 1 point, spot gold from 0.3 point, and share CFDs from 0.05%. In our estimate the all-in cost per round-turn lot on the majors comes to about $10, against roughly $13 for the average broker we track, though Eightcap, one of the cheapest names we rank for the Emirates, comes in nearer $8.
The investing side deserves particular attention from the Emirates. Cash stocks and ETFs trade at 0 commission with a per-order minimum of $5 in Europe and $15 in the US, there are no ETF fees, and the securities account converts currency at zero. For a UAE resident who has already converted dirhams to dollars once at the bank, that 0% FX on every subsequent overseas position is the detail that compounds: no conversion drag each time you buy a US or European share from a USD account. There is no inactivity fee either; IG closes an account after two years of inactivity rather than charging for it.
Then comes the layer that flatters every cost figure above: tax. The UAE levies neither personal income tax nor capital gains tax on resident individuals, so trading and investment gains are generally kept in full. The federal corporate tax of 9% concerns business profits above AED 375,000 and does not reach an individual's personal account. None of this is tax advice, and a non-resident may still owe tax in their home country.

The catalogue is the reason IG is on this page: more than 17,000 tradable markets in all. The derivatives desk alone spans 16,000+ of them, while the securities account deals around 6,000 stocks and 2,000+ ETFs in cash, many shares being available both ways, as a CFD and in direct ownership. Add vanilla and barrier options, roughly a hundred futures and some thirty cryptos traded as derivatives. For a Gulf reader the natural entry point is gold, which trades from 0.3 point on spot, sitting alongside deep forex, indices and commodities. Options and futures are the rarity: very few retail brokers serving UAE residents offer them at all, and they give an experienced trader hedging and income strategies that plain CFDs cannot replicate.
Just as relevant for the Emirates is what you can own outright. Among the trading-first names in our UAE ranking, IG is one of the few, with XTB and eToro, to offer real share and ETF dealing rather than derivatives only: thousands of ETFs in real ownership, no ETF fees, and zero currency conversion on the securities account. With UAE residents paying no personal capital gains tax, a buy-and-hold sleeve next to the trading account is unusually attractive here, and IG lets you run both books behind one login. Two honest limits. Crypto exists only as derivatives, around 33 pairs with no wallet and no direct ownership, so a UAE investor who wants to hold coins should look at an exchange such as Binance, which holds a VASP licence from Dubai's VARA. And no swap-free (Islamic) account is documented in our sources, so a trader who needs interest-free overnight positions should compare Pepperstone, where a swap-free account is available on request. The platform line-up, IG's own web and mobile apps, ProRealTime (free from four trades a month), MetaTrader 4, TradingView integration and L2 Dealer for direct market access, can all be rehearsed on the free demo before any real money goes in.

Experienced UAE trader who wants breadth and professional tools
The platform IG was built for: 17,000+ tradable markets, vanilla and barrier options, 100+ futures, direct market access via L2 Dealer and automation through MT4 or ProRealTime, with spreads from 1 point on major indices and 0.3 point on gold. No rival we rank for the Emirates offers a broader catalogue, and behind it stands a London-listed company with an office in Dubai's DIFC.
-
UAE multi-asset investor who also trades
One of the few trading-first brokers in our UAE ranking with real share and ETF dealing: around 6,000 stocks and 2,000+ ETFs in cash ownership, no ETF fees and zero currency conversion on the securities account. With no personal capital gains tax for UAE resident individuals, running a buy-and-hold sleeve next to the derivatives desk is unusually efficient here.
-
UAE trader who wants a locally licensed entity
IG's DIFC presence is an office, not a retail licence documented in our sources; UAE residents are served under FCA, ASIC and BaFin supervision. If onshore authorisation is your deciding criterion, compare Pepperstone (DFSA-regulated in the DIFC) or AvaTrade (FSRA licence in the ADGM) before choosing.

The verdict
The verdict
For a UAE trader the case for IG is breadth backed by substance. No other broker in our UAE comparison puts 17,000+ markets, options, futures, direct market access and a real securities account behind one login, and none of the others matches the profile of a company listed in London since 2000 that also keeps an office in Dubai's DIFC. Rated 4.6/5, it is the platform we would point an experienced Dubai or Abu Dhabi trader towards when the priority is range and professional tools, with the UAE's zero personal capital gains tax letting both the trading and the investing side compound in full. The reservations are just as clear. UAE residents are served under IG's international licences (FCA, ASIC, BaFin), with no local SCA, DFSA or FSRA authorisation documented in our sources, so a trader who wants onshore supervision should weigh Pepperstone's DFSA entity in the DIFC or AvaTrade's FSRA licence in the ADGM. If cost is the single priority, Eightcap, one of the lowest-cost names we track for the UAE, undercuts IG on the majors. And a beginner building a simple ETF portfolio will find the per-order minimums and the dual interface heavier than needed; XTB's 0% commission on real shares and ETFs is the gentler start. For the experienced UAE trader who wants every market in one place with a listed company behind it, IG is the account that fits.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ IG
Is IG reliable?
Yes. IG was founded in 1974, is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is regulated by the FCA in the UK with further licences including ASIC and BaFin. It serves UAE residents under those international licences and operates a DIFC-based office in Dubai. Client funds are segregated, negative balance protection applies on leveraged products for retail clients, and the public listing brings audited accounts and disclosure standards most private brokers never face.
Why choose IG?
For the largest catalogue we track for UAE residents: 17,000+ tradable markets covering indices, forex, commodities and shares, plus vanilla and barrier options and 100+ futures that are rare among retail brokers, and real share and ETF dealing alongside the CFD desk. Add the Dubai office inside the DIFC and the weight of a listed company, and it is the breadth-and-tools pick in our UAE ranking, rated 4.6/5.
What are the fees at IG?
On cash stocks and ETFs: 0 commission with a per-order minimum ($5 in Europe, $15 in the US), no ETF fees and zero currency conversion on the securities account. On derivatives: spreads from 0.6 pip on EUR/USD, 1 point on major indices, 0.3 point on gold and 0.05% on shares. Deposits are free and UAE accounts are usually funded in USD, with the AED pegged at roughly 3.6725 to the dollar. As a UAE resident individual, gains are generally free of personal capital gains tax.
Who is IG for?
The experienced Dubai or Abu Dhabi trader who wants every market in one place, professional tools like ProRealTime and L2 Dealer, and the option to hold real shares and ETFs next to the trading account. A trader who requires an onshore SCA, DFSA or FSRA licence should compare Pepperstone or AvaTrade, and a beginner with a small ETF portfolio will find XTB's 0% commission simpler.
Is it easy to withdraw from IG?
Yes, withdrawals are free, and deposits too. Accounts for UAE residents are usually funded in US dollars, and the dirham's peg keeps the AED-USD conversion stable; check what your own bank charges on the transfer, as IG adds nothing. There is no inactivity fee either: IG closes an account after two years of inactivity rather than charging for it.
